If you’re one of the millions of people who’ve been caught up in the CBD skincare trend, making your soap with a CBD soap recipe might be right up your alley. It’s a great way to give your skin some love and save a bundle of cash (CBD is not cheap, after all).
Without further ado, let’s go through these easy-to-make CBD soap recipes.
CBD Soap recipe 1.
Ingredients
- 6 oz. of full-spectrum CBD oil
- 35 oz. of water
- 40 soapberries, deseeded and split into halves
- 2 large tablespoons of organic manuka honey
- The peel of 3 fresh lemons
- 1 cup of fresh lavender stalks, roughly chopped
- a cup of fresh rosemary, roughly chopped
- 1 cup of fresh mint, roughly chopped
- a fresh aloe Vera leaf, about 8 inches in length
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil (or any other oil of your choice)
- A blender
- A food thermometer
- A selection of old jars that have been properly sterilized
Instructions:
- Add half the water and the aloe Vera leaf to the blender. Chop them roughly but don’t fully blend.
- Clean the soapberries thoroughly and pour them into a large mixing bowl or container. Add the lemon peel and the herbs.
- Pour the aloe leaf and water from the blender into the mixing bowl/container, then add the remaining water.
- Let it sit overnight.
- The next day, transfer the contents of your mixing bowl/container into a large pan and bring to a boil on the stove. Then, take it down to a simmer for 3 minutes and remove it from the heat.
- Leave it to cool for 15 minutes.
- When the mixture is completely cool, strain it and pour the remaining liquid into your sterilized jars.
Then, all you have to do is put the jars of soap in your refrigerator, and use them within 30 days.
CBD Bar Soap Recipe with Lye
Ingredients:
- 10 ounces coconut oil
- five ounces cocoa butter
- 5 ounces shea butter
- five ounces castor oil
- 5 ounces avocado oil
- 9 ounces filtered water
- 1 ounce’s lye
- 1-ounce lavender essential oil (or any essential oil of your choice)
- The desired amount of CBD oil
Directions:
- Combine your coconut, cocoa butter, shea butter, castor, avocado, and CBD oils in a large stainless-steel pot. Heat them together on low until they are melted. Stir frequently with your stainless-steel spoon and make sure they are combined well. Use your thermometer to make sure the mixture reaches 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- In your plastic container, add your filtered water and then slowly pour your lye into the water (if you pour the water into the lye, the solution can explode). Stir them together with a stainless-steel spoon until well combined. This solution will heat up when you combine them, so set this aside after stirring to get it to cool down between 95- and 100-degrees Fahrenheit (use your thermometer to keep track of this).
- When both mixtures—oils and lye water—are around 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, pour the lye water into your pot of oils. Blend them with a hand mixer or stick blender for about two to three minutes or until combined well.
- Add essential oil to the mixture and stir.
- Using your spatula, pour the mixture into your soap molds.
- Using your towels, cover and insulate your molds for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, remove your soap from the molds, cut them, and let them cure for four to six weeks (turn them occasionally to ensure all sides dry out).

Detergent-Free Melt and Pour CBD Soap Recipe
Ingredients.
- 1 pound of detergent-free soap base of your choice — goat milk, aloe, honey, beer, and many other options are available in the marketplace. Any variety is fine.
- 1 tablespoon CBD oil.
- .25-.5 oz. cosmetic-grade fragrance oil concentrate of choice, optional.
- Soap-safe colorants and herbal additives such as calendula petals are also an optional idea to decorate your soaps.
Directions.
Chop up the soap base into one- to two-inch cubes and heat gently in the microwave in short bursts until mostly melted, stirring frequently. This can also be done at the top of a double boiler if you prefer. Make sure the heat level is not too high. Continue stirring by hand to fully melt the soap batter. Stir in the CBD oil and mix thoroughly. Add fragrances, colors, and herbs, if using. Pour into soap molds and allow to harden completely. Store in an airtight container to prevent sweating due to the natural glycerin content of the soap.
Quick Hemp Seed CBD Oil Soap Recipe
Ingredients.
- Goat Milk Soap Base, 1.5 lbs.
- Oatmeal, 1 cup whole
- CBD Oil, ¼ cup
- Tea Tree Oil, 15-20 drop
- Dark Green Soap Colorant, 15 drops
- Oatmeal, ¼ cup ground
Directions
- Cut Soap Base in 1-inch Cubes
Use your cutting board and knife to cut the soap base into 1-inch cubes. Put cubed soap into a microwave-safe glass dish.
- Grind Oatmeal and Sprinkle in Molds
Grind 1/4 cup of the oatmeal. Then sprinkle just a little ground oatmeal onto the bottom of the soap molds.
- Melt Soap Base in Microwave
Microwave on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Stir with a spoon. If there are still chunks, continue microwaving 15 seconds at a time until fully melted. (You can melt soap on a double-broiler if you prefer.)
- Stir in the Remaining Ingredients
You’ll need to work quickly so the soap doesn’t harden. Add hemp oil, tea tree oil, soap colorant, and whole oatmeal into melted soap in a glass dish. Stir well to incorporate the oil.
- Fill Molds and Sprinkle Whole Oatmeal
Use a large spoon to fill each of the 12 soap molds. Use the remaining ¼ cup whole oatmeal to sprinkle on the bottom of each soap (the side that is facing up) for extra exfoliation. This way your bar has one side that is gentle and the other that is more abrasive.
- Let Cool
Now set aside the mold for at least one hour to harden. Then carefully pop out soaps and enjoy!
