There are many methods you can use to get the CBD oil of your liking. If you want both THC and CBD’s effects in your oil, you can use a CBD-dense strain of marijuana. One such strain is CBD Rene. It has an equal (1:1) proportion of THC and CBD, meaning you’ll get many of THC’s euphoric effects, alongside CBD’s therapeutic properties.

 One benefit of using a strain rich in both THC and CBD is the entourage effect. The entourage effect is a synergistic relationship between CBD and THC that balances out and improves these two cannabinoids’ performance.

How to Decarboxylate Hemp Flower

One thing you’ll need to take care of before making your CBD oil is the decarboxylation of the hemp flower. Without this, your CBD will contain high levels of cannabidiolic acid (CBDA). You’ll need to heat the hemp for some time to convert CBDA to CBD. Once this is done, your carrier oil will bind to the CBD and promote digestion in your body. 

Here’s how you can easily decarboxylate your hemp flower:

•  Cover a baking tray with parchment paper
• Spread some hemp buds on it
•  Preheat oven to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. 
•  Put the tray in the oven.
• Shake it from time to time to promote even heating

And that’s it. Your hemp is now decarboxylase. If you’re using a cannabis flower, repeat the same process with one little modification. Instead of preheating the oven to 220 degrees, preheat it to 245 degrees. As cannabis contains THC, it will take a bit more time and temperature to activate its cannabinoids. 

Best Way To Make Homemade CBD Oil (Oil Method)

After having all the ingredients and equipment by your side and decarboxylating the hemp buds, you can easily use the oil method to make CBD oil at home. This is the most convenient and safest method. It’s what we would recommend the most for DIY projects. 

Here’s another rundown of what you’ll need for this method:

•  Decarboxylated Hemp Flower (or High-CBD Cannabis Flower)
• Coconut Oil (or MCT Oil)
•   A double boiler
•  A baking tray and parchment paper
•  Cheesecloth or strainer
•   A glass container for storing your CBD Oil

And here are the steps for your extended guidance: 

Heat some water in the double boiler. If you don’t have a double boiler, a stockpot will also work fine. But, you’ll need to place a small bowl underneath it to make sure it doesn’t overheat fast.

• Please wait for the water to simmer but don’t let it boil.
•  Put this powder into the upper section of your double boiler.
•  Cover this section with 16 Oz of MCT oil (for every ounce of hemp)
• Stir your hemp powder and oil gently and then leave it to simmer for at least 2.5-3 hours. Keep the heat low during this time. Overheating may denature your oil and yield a low-quality product. 
• Add your favorite essential oils to give your oil the aroma and flavor of your liking.
• As your hemp turns brownish-green, turn off the heat. 

Your homemade CBD oil is ready at this point. Now, all you have to do is put it in a safe container. Make sure the container is not made of glass. Otherwise, the hot oil will break it, and the oil will spill all over, pouring water over all your hard work.

Use nylon or cheesecloth to strain the CBD oil into your container gently. Once you’ve done this, close the container and keep it stored in a cool and dry place.
